Business projects in international teams

Working on a real-life business project with a multinational team offers an unbeatable learning experience. Students are invited to apply their knowledge to challenges provided by Finnish companies and organisations. Working together with a company partner provides meaningful connections with the industry and takes new topics from the classroom to the boardroom.

In addition to working on their digital business skills, participants get valuable experience of multidisciplinary teamwork and build their international communication skills. Whether taking the course online or on-campus, students meet people from different academic and cultural backgrounds, preparing them for international careers. The project work is facilitated by DBMC staff, with tips ranging from presentation skills to successful online teamwork.

Experience early spring in Finland

Helsinki and Espoo offer a lot to see also outside of the summer season. Local cafés and restaurants welcome visitors with a warm cup of coffee and Finnish delicacies. Popular sights like the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress have a unique atmosphere in the colder months, not to forget about interesting museums, picturesque libraries and Finnish design. And what better time to truly appreciate your sauna experience than after a cold day?

Snow in March is not a rare occurrence in Helsinki. However, if students want to maximise their chances of visiting a winter wonderland, they can travel further up north before or after the lecture weeks and visit Lapland. Another popular option for a mid-course weekend getaway is the city of Tallinn, located just a short boat ride away from Helsinki.

Cordelia Blanchard was happy about experiencing the Aalto campus and Helsinki in the winter.

Our class was truly global, which meant that we all had unique perspectives and challenges as we worked together both in lectures and on our consulting projects. Working with a global team allowed us to develop stronger recommendations and learn about managing relationships with those who have had very different lived experiences. Additionally, the program coordinators, professors, and everyone from Aalto were incredibly warm and engaging. Cordelia Blanchard, DBMC alumna spring 2022

I gained a lot of new knowledge about the importance and the usage of platform business models, and the lectures about AI showed me that there is still a long way to go to implement the new technology the right way into our society. Additionally, the short exchange with all these international people from different backgrounds has enriched me with many new perspectives. Liva Gramlow, DBMC alumna summer 2022
