Living+ Research Themes
The Living+ Platform aims to support all research essential to human-centered living environments. Such a vast topic accommodates several different subareas of research, currently we have chosen to divide them into thirteen different subareas. Four research themes cluster these subareas, where each theme represents a specific approach to human-centered living environments.
In the center we call Urban Life, we have the environments in which we live our daily lives and research surrounding humans’ interaction in and with that environment. At its core we find Inclusive Environments, specifically dedicated to research on environments which need to be user-friendly for everyone, such as environments for education, co-creation and services. All these environments are built on human Technological Breakthroughs; research on the technologies that enable our present and future society, such as material and construction engineering. Human-Centered Design and Planning on the other hand offers the methods by which we design and develop better environments for humans.
Themes and subareas
The comprehensive design, implementation and testing of human-centric living environments come together as a multidisciplinary collaborative project at Aalto University.
