The core of the research group works on various themes related to mobile and wireless data transfers, such as, congestion control, multi-path transport, mobility management, and routing. The first dissertation from the group tackled an evolution of Mobile IP for multi-path wireless networks. The dissertation of Professor Manner back in 2003 was on the interactions of mobility management and Quality of Service in IP-based networks. A major result of the work on mobile communication was the launch of the Nettitutka mobile measurement platform in 2012. It has over 300'000 users around the world and produces unique data and insight to our research on the performance and evolution of mobile networks and mobile devices.
The group has widened it's work to include a number of critical aspects related to the evolution of the Internet.
