Coordinator


for a one-year fixed term contract, with a possibility of extension. The position is an administrative research coordinator position in the context of projects led by Prof. N. Asokan at the Secure Systems research group. The mission of the group is to find ways of designing systems that are simultaneously secure, easy-to-use, and inexpensive to deploy. The group is the home for the Helsinki "spoke" of the Intel Institute for Secure Computing (ICRI-SC).  Secure Systems group is part of HAIC -- Helsinki Aalto Center for Information Security directed by Prof. Asokan.

The diverse tasks of the Coordinator will include:

  1. Organizing various events

  2. Designing and creating website for the group and maintaining the group wiki page

  3. Administrating practical issues of the research group members (employees and visitors)

  4. Research and project support
    • purchases, cost claims for the projects, calendar management and bookings, project achievement summaries

    • help with media releases and editing articles in the group blog

    • support in writing research papers

 

In addition, the job will include various administrative task and more demanding assignments depending on the skills and experience of the candidate. The position is to liaise between the research group and the other administrative staff of the department and the university.

We appreciate prior experience in arranging events (with 50 or more participants), including travel arrangements for the visitors; experience in managing a blog and fluency with various web-related tools and wiki; experience in people-related issues and administrative tasks; and prior experience in research and project support and communications. Experience with LaTeX and related tools is considered as an advantage.

The job requires fluency in Finnish and English, excellence in written English is a strong plus. To manage in this position organizational and co-operative skills, effectiveness, diligence and initiative attitude are necessary. Applicable polytechnic or Master’s level degree is expected, but also students with suitable experience are considered.
