In the future artificial skin can be used to replace animal testing. In addition, it can help in developing skin grafts for burns. Creating artificial skin is a challenging task because the tissue has to be elastic and adjust to the requirements of the body. The diameter of the blood vessels is only 100 micro meters, which tells something about the scale.
