Made in Aalto: Going to greater lengths with smart materials

The Aalto University spin-off company Synoste has developed a new method to help patients suffering from uneven limbs. The solution utilizes smart materials and enables patients to perform the more indolent lengthening treatments at home.

The entrepreneurial trio behind Synoste started collaborating in 2007. By combining the know-how accumulated through summer jobs and studies they started their own company in 2012. Synoste has gained the trust of sponsors and is now operating in both Germany and Finland. It is expected to revolutionize existing bone lengthening methods.
