Study abroad

The goal of Aalto University is to become a world-class university. This means, for instance, that international mobility is considered a natural part of the life of all members of Aalto. As an Aalto University student, you have excellent opportunities of increasing your degree of internationalisation during your studies. You can study or find a work placement abroad, take part in teaching provided in a foreign language at your own university or work actively in multicultural groups or projects. This allows you to gain information and skills that will definitely be useful to you also in the future.

As you gain international experience, you gain expertise that is beneficial for both your personal and professional life. You learn foreign languages and get to know other cultures, gain experience of working in multicultural groups and learn different ways of studying, working, thinking and living in general. In addition, the friends and contacts you make abroad will make your life wonderfully rich and diverse.

The university provides you with an easy access to an exchange abroad. The schools maintain and conclude exchange agreements with top universities of their field. You are guided and instructed in choosing a suitable destination, and your exchange is also supported by awarding grants for exchanges abroad. Our goal is to integrate student exchange more closely with the degree programmes, making participation in an exchange as easy as possible for students.
