Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management, Aalto University

The Master's Programme in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management gives you a lot of hands-on experience and a solid academic understanding of entrepreneurship in the biggest entrepreneurship ecosystem in Europe.

Entrepreneurship and innovation management is about creating new ideas and implementing them in a way that generates economic and/or social value. As an innovator and entrepreneur, you can

  • start your own new businesses
  • develop new product lines or manage novel projects for existing firms
  • work in non-profit organisations, traditional firms, or the public sector
  • generate new ideas that make the world a better place

Programme overview: Entrepreneurship and innovation management

Entrepreneurship and innovation are everywhere, and Aalto’s entrepreneurship ecosystem is unique and the biggest in Europe - a recent MIT report even recognised Aalto as a ‘rising star’ among entrepreneurship ecosystems worldwide!

Studying entrepreneurship and innovation management in our programme gives you leading-edge insight into the issues, as you get to

  • work on real business ideas with real customers in many courses
  • team up with fellow students not just from business, but also from design, science and engineering
  • participate in a range of excellent entrepreneurship initiatives, including the student-led Aalto Entrepreneurship Society and the Aalto Ventures Program.

Learning outcomes

The Master's Programme in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management provides you with the mindset and skills to generate new (business) ideas and turn them into actions, be it in new independent ventures or in existing organisations.

In general, the EIM programme enables students to graduate within 4 semesters, but the EIM programme also offers students to choose the “Fast-Track”-option, to be able to graduate within three semesters.

Upon completing the programme, you will be able to

  • create, test and pitch new business ideas
  • develop a competitive advantage for new businesses
  • evaluate the social and ecological sustainability of new business innovations
  • apply theory to practical challenges in small business management
  • gain experience in managing complex projects
  • working in teams with colleagues from different backgrounds

Diverse career prospects

As a graduate from our Programme, you will have diverse career prospects. You can of course start your own venture like some of our students do, but this is by no means the only career option for our graduates.  Besides starting your own business, you can work in e.g.

  • consulting
  • project management
  • any business function that calls for a holistic master or larger business entities
  • specialist positions in the public sector at the regional, national and supra-national (EU, OECD) levels.
