Studies at the Aalto University School of Economics
The Aalto University School of Economics offers high-quality lifelong learning in all aspects of economic life. There are many degree programs serving the needs of business life, and our teaching methods are versatile and interactive. We emphasize international aspects and a wide-ranging approach.
We offer degree programs in both Finnish and English. Our foreign language selection includes 11 languages, ranging from English and French to Chinese and Japanese. The partner universities, more than 100 on five continents, in our extensive exchange program are the best in their field. Each year, nearly 300 Aalto University School of Economics students embark on exchange programs and approximately 200 foreign students come to the Aalto University School of Economics. The Aalto University School of Economics graduates have found employment easily. Their strengths lie in their ability to combine high-quality, up-to-date information on economic phenomena with practical work-life skills.
Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration
The degree of Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration is a three-year university degree with the extent of 180 credits. The credits are fully compatible with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).
Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration
The degree of Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration is a two-year university degree with the extent of 120 credits. The credits are fully compatible with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).
Doctoral Program
The Aalto University School of Economics offers an international doctoral program for those seeking academic careers or high-level positions in business in Finland or abroad. The Aalto University School of Economics confers Doctor of Science (Economic and Business Administration) and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Since the foundation of the Aalto University School of Economics in 1911, around 300 students have completed the Doctor's degree.
The quality of the doctoral dissertations is international. Most of the dissertations are written in English, and the main results are often published as articles in international refereed scientific journals. Foreign experts are used as outside-reviewers (preliminary examiners) and opponents of the dissertations. To meet the standards of high quality, we have set the goal that all students will publish at least one article in a refereed scientific journal.
