Bachelor and Master's students

Degree students at Aalto University are, for the most part, responsible for arranging their own accommodation. In order to apply for student housing in the Helsinki region, fill in the application forms directly on the webpage of HOAS and/or AYY. If your place of study is in the city of Mikkeli you should fill in the housing application on the webpage of MOAS. Before filling in the forms, read carefully instructions provided.

Unfortunately the demand for student housing has been steadily increasing and HOAS and AYY do not have the capacity to accommodate all the students. Therefore students should also seek for accommodation from the private rental sectors.

HOAS – the Foundation for Student Housing in the Helsinki Region

HOAS offers various kinds of student accommodation options: rooms in shared apartments, apartments for families as well as studio apartments (although the studios are only available for students already living in other HOAS apartments). The apartments available for degree students are unfurnished.

Rental level varies approximately between 300-900€/month. Kindly note that there is a only limited number of the least expensive rooms, so one should be prepared to pay more than the minimum. The rent generally includes broadband internet connection, electricity and water.

It is advisable to apply for an apartment as soon as you receive a place of study however no sooner than four months before you need the apartment.

Unfortunately there is no guarantee that you will get an apartment when your studies begin!

AYY, Aalto University Student Union

AYY has some 2,500 apartments available for all the students attending Aalto University and who have signed up as members of AYY. AYY apartments are situated in Espoo and Helsinki. Monthly rents include water and internet. The apartments are not furnished.

MOAS, Mikkeli Student Housing Ltd.

MOAS provides student housing for the students studying in Aalto University's Mikkeli Campus. MOAS has approximately 740 apartments which can accommodate in total of 1100 residents. More information as well as application forms may be obtained from the MOAS website. (moas.fi)
