Helsinki Challenge is a science-based idea competition which brings different actors from the scientific community and society together to solve the great problems in the world. FallUp is the largest student entrepreneurship event in Europe organised by Aalto Entreprenurship Society (Aaltoes). The event encourages students to become entrepreneurs and change makers. The next FallUp takes place in October 2017. More information: FallUp2016, Aaltoes

WarSampo, Finnish World War II on the Semantic Web. The WarSampo Portal allows both historians and laymen to study war history and the destinies of their family members in the war from different interlinked perspectives. More information: WarSampo

SuomiAreena: Aalto students, from the Department of Architecture, designed the Aika stage (Time) for SuomiAreena 10–14 July '17. The 285-square-metre stage will be built in co-operation with Stora Enso using their structurally strong LVL. More information: SuomiAreena

CodeBus Africa is a fun ride of 100 days into the world of technology. African and Finnish tech and education innovators organise creative coding workshops for 13–20-year-olds in 10 African countries in spring 2017. Suomi 100 Satellite is a high-profile technology project which aims at giving Finns the experience of space, with an on-board camera showing views of Earth, space, Finland, and the Northern Lights. During the project, a Space Truck travels the length of Finland bringing a space exhibition for all to see. More information: Suomi 100 Satellite

Sino Finnish 100 Challenge: New Way of Doing is the main event of the Finland 100 programme in China. The Challenge creates preconditions for utilising Finnish know-how in solving challenges in China. It promotes and enables export opportunities within Chinese stakeholders. Opening of the Academic Year ceremony and Aalto Party take place in September. After the ceremony, the party traditionally begins with a tug-of-war between the University management and the student union. In 2017, the ceremony will be in conjunction with the opening of the renewed Dipoli building. More information at a later date.

Public Service Hackathon, #pshack100 course harnesses the skills of Aalto University students for solving public sector challenges to speed up its digitalisation. The master's level course is organised together with Accenture and seven public sector organisations. More information: aalto.fi

Digitaalinen Suomi publication (Digital Finland) is a collection of articles, which describe the development of the digital breakthrough during 1995–2015, and evaluate Finland's success in the international framework.
