He was appointed professor in the Department of Physics at the Tampere University of Technology, Finland, in 2009.
Dr. Adam’s research focuses on computational modelling of nanoscale phenomena. Emphasis is placed on understanding and controlling the atomic processes dominating function at the surfaces and interfaces of application critical materials. It is characteristic of the group’s research to have strong links with experiments, using both quantum and classical atomic-scale simulations embedded in virtual experiments. Recent topics include the optimization of next-generation nanoelectronics, molecular engineering, nanocatalysis, friction and water-salt interfaces.
By the decision of the President of Aalto University on March 5, 2012, Adam Foster, Ph.D., has been appointed to the tenure track position of Associate Professor in Physics in the Department of Applied Physics at the Aalto University School of Science.
