Aalto University rises in QS university ranking
The QS World University Ranking published today put Aalto University in 222nd place (from the 232nd place last year and the 250th place in 2010) in a ranking which evaluates over 700 universities worldwide. Finland had five universities in the top 300 with the MIT from the USA topping this year’s ranking.
The QS World University Ranking puts weight on research citations, student-staff ratio, internationalization, and as much as 50% of the score comes from reputation, i.e. review from peer academics and from recruiters.
Of different faculty areas examined, engineering & technology was ranked highest, with Aalto University in 125th place (from the 138th place in 2011). In natural sciences Aalto was put in 250th place (249) and in social sciences & management in 264th place (305).
