Hanna Maula appointed Aalto University’s Communications Director

Hanna Maula has been appointed as the Communications Director of Aalto University and a member of the university’s management team. She will start in her new job at the beginning of September. Maula will be responsible for Aalto University’s domestic and international communications, marketing and brand building. She will be in charge of the 40-strong team of the communications, marketing and events organisation.

Hanna MaulaBefore moving to Aalto University, Hanna Maula (36) worked as Director, Corporate Communications, at Neste Oil and she has also held various communications posts at such companies as Elcoteq and Hackman Group. Maula holds the degree of Master of Social Sciences and Licentiate of Philosophy.

− Providing the 5 000 staff members and 20 000 students with information and inspiration amidst changes is critical as we are building an Aalto culture based on top expertise, agility and renewal. In communications, we must also constantly focus on the large stakeholder groups that support the building of Aalto University and whom we want keep as partners in the development of the university, explains Tuula Teeri, President of Aalto University.

− I’m pleased that we have been joined by an expert who has 15 years’ experience of different areas of communications at international listed companies. Hanna is an expert on such fields as strategy communications and has also written a book about the subject. This expertise will be useful as we put the Aalto strategy into effect. Making the research and educational activities of Aalto University internationally more attractive is one of the most important tasks of the Communications Director and Hanna Maula is well-placed to do this. We are uniquely placed to make Aalto University a world class institute of higher learning in the next few years, she adds.

Maula’s predecessor Tapio Hedman was appointed Managing Director of SEK & GREY in spring.
