The most significant academic conference on data communication to gather leading experts to Finlandia Hall in August

29.06.2012

ACM Sigcomm, the most scientifically significant academic conference on ICT research, will be organised for the first time in Finland on 13–18 August 2012. The conference will be hosted by Aalto University and Nokia.

The conference programme will offer a number of presentations, papers, workshops and demos on new technologies, applications and Internet sector news. Scientific results related to such subjects as cloud services, information networks, wireless networks, server centres and Internet data security will be showcased.

ACM Sigcomm is an annual event in which new technologies are often released for the first time. In earlier years, the conference served as the backdrop for the introduction of such novelties as WiFi, or wireless local network technology, and Internet domain name system DNS that translates domain names into IP addresses. Because of the high esteem it enjoys, the event attracts leading experts from around the world, and this year, some 600 participants from the academia, businesses and state government alike are expected to attend.

Finnish inputs in this year’s ACM Sigcomm programme will include not only the demo " Dismantling Intrusion Prevention Systems” by Aalto University and Stonesoft, but also the opening remarks by Rovio Entertainment Ltd in the workshop on mobile gaming.

Numerous key businesses in the field are committed to supporting the event.
