In 2011, the Aalto University School of Economics celebrates its first one hundred years as a university which began on 16 January 1911.
The festivities started on 23 October 2010 already, when nearly 1,400 former students of the School of Economics got together at an alumni party. The main events in 2011 will be the 100th anniversary celebrations at the School of Economics on 20 January, and the solemn conferment of degrees on 20 May.
“The School of Economics has always had close connections with Finnish society and its industries since the beginning. So the School has been a part of developing the Finnish society for one hundred years”, says Executive Dean Eero Kasanen.
“Now, as a part of Aalto University, the School of Economics wants to continue at the forefront of changing the world. As a part of the celebratory year, we want to draw attention to economics competence and its importance for society”.
