€1.2 million donation for Aalto University from the commercial sector

17.05.2010

Together with Kesko and SOK (Suomen Osuuskauppa), the Federation of Finnish Commerce is donating €1.2 million to Aalto University. The aim of this significant donation is to support research into commerce and services.

Aalto University has the necessary prerequisites to develop internationally significant Finnish expertise in research into commerce, services and consumers. To achieve this goal the university will, however, need an environment where researchers, teachers and students all have good opportunities to operate. Once a positive force of attraction is generated at Aalto University, it will be able to attract the best students in the field of commerce, not only from Finland but also from abroad.

- The service economy is a key area of focus at the Aalto University School of Economics and commerce plays a central part in it. This significant donation from the Federation of Finnish Commerce will encourage and safeguard high-quality research and teaching in the field of commerce, says Eero Kasanen, Dean of Aalto University School of Economics.
