11.05.2010

Wärtsilä has decided to donate a total of EUR 1.5 million to support science, research and education at Finnish universities. The support is divided as follows: EUR 1 million to the Aalto University Endowment Fund, EUR 300,000 to Hanken School of Economics, and EUR 200,000 to Åbo Akademi University Endowment Fund.

“The universities are important research and development partners for Wärtsilä. By making this donation, we want to promote the continued success and high level of the Finnish university institution in the future. This is also an investment in developing our future recruiting base,” says Ole Johansson, President and CEO of Wärtsilä.

“We are delighted with Wärtsilä’s donation. Cooperation with companies is important to us, and Aalto University will continue to produce experts, thus ensuring the competitiveness of Finnish business. The university is investing in new challenges through top research and education,” says Tuula Teeri, President of Aalto University, as she expresses her gratitude for the donation.
