School of Economics team third in international CFA Global Investment Research Challenge

A team of students from the Aalto University School of Economics won third place in the EMEA region final of the Global Investment Research Challenge organized by the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute.

The regional final was held in Istanbul on the 25th of March 2010. At the qualifying levels for the final, altogether 430 teams took part in the challenge.

The Finnish team consisted of three Master's degree students from the School of Economics: Olli Pohja, Iikka Moilanen and Markus Joensuu. In the competition, the team presented their investment recommendation and analysis of Amer Sports Corporation to a panel of industry experts. The students' support group included Faculty Advisor Anna R. Gasiorowska from the Aalto University School of Economics, industry expert and team mentor Paavo Ahonen, and Heikki Nakari, the representative of CFA Finland from Ålandsbanken Equity.

A team from the University of Cape Town won the regional final. The team will compete for the first prize in the global final with three other regional winning teams in Hong Kong on the 17th of April 2010.
