Appointments in Knowledge Networks service organization

Vice Rector Hannu Seristö has appointed Kirsi Miettinen, Atso Andersén and Will Cardwell for Knowledge Networks unit.



The person in charge of continuing education will be Kirsi Miettinen, MSc (Tech).  Kirsi Miettinen will be responsible for the management, integration and long-term development of continuing education and the Aalto's Open University. In addition, her task includes the development of business related education and service activities.

Kirsi Miettinen will continue in her position as Head of Lifelong Learning Institute Dipoli.   She has worked in Dipoli since 2005 carrying responsibility for different management and development tasks. Kirsti has several years experience in organizing, developing and managing continuing education also in the business sector. Kirsi Miettinen will start in her new position on 1 April 2010.

The person in charge of business relations will be Atso Andersén, D.Sc. (Econ). Atso Andersén will be responsible for continuing development of Aalto University's business relations and supporting acquisition of funding and internationalization. The task also includes the development of partner programmes and coordination and integration of joint activities with companies.

To take up his new position, Atso Andersén will leave his present position as Principal Business Consultant for Tieto Financial Service Finland Oy. Earlier, he worked as a management consultant and in different specialist and development tasks in the financial sector. Atso Andersén will start in his new position on 15 April 2010.

The person responsible for Aalto Centre for Entrepreneurship will be Will Cardwell, MBA. Will Cardwell will be responsible for coordination and integration promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in Aalto University. He will manage entrepreneurship and innovation services and implement growth business services together with the University's external cooperation partners.

To take up his new position, Will Cardwell will leave his current position as Managing Director of Technopolis Ventures. He has several years' experience in providing support for startup businesses and in building services to support business activities.
Will Cardwell will start in his new position on 1 May 2010.

The task of Aalto University's Knowledge Networks organization is to act as a partner for the University's management as well as to produce and develop services that are customer friendly and serve the needs of internationalization for the academic community as well as the needs of continuing education while also supporting entrepreneurship and innovation activities. The organization is led by Vice President Hannu Seristö.
