Aalto University rises in QS ranking
05.09.2011 QS World University Ranking published today put Aalto University in 232nd place (from the 250th place in last year) in a ranking which evaluates over 700 universities worldwide. Finland had three universities in the top 300 with the University of Cambridge topping this year’s ranking.

Researchers found a new method for task allocation in distribution centers
07.09.2011 FIMECC/EFFIMA project “Control of information in Multi-Machine environment” (MOTTI), has studied a generic multi-machine system from a system point of view. One of the cases in MOTTI has been order picking in distribution centers. Order picking is a multi-machine application, which makes possible to machines execute tasks simultaneously.

Research carried out at Aalto University helping Ericsson to adjust to changing business culture
15.09.2011 During the past two years, Ericsson Finland R&D has undergone the most extensive restructuring in its history as it has replaced the software production process based on the waterfall model with an agile software development model. The interviews conducted by the Software Process Research Group headed by Casper Lassenius, Professor at the School of Science, in which staff members of Ericsson Finland R&D give their views of the changes will shed light on the impacts of the process. The interview and observation survey will also result in suggestions that the company can use in the development of its operations.
Aalto University’s first event for student exchange partner universities a success
16.09.2011 Aalto University organized the first international event for student exchange partner universities, Aalto Partner Day, on main campuses Friday September 9th, 2011. Selected partner universities came and saw for themselves what Aalto is all about. Aalto welcomed representatives from 13 different universities and nine countries – from Australia, China, Japan, New Zealand, USA and Europe.
