Art came to Otaniemi
01.07.2011 "The Hall of Arts" (Taiteiden talo) started its operations at the end of the spring in Lämpömiehenkuja, Otaniemi. The hall is located in a building which is designed by Alvar Aalto and which has been previously housed the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.

08.07.2011 For studying toward a master's degree in economic s and business administration at the Aalto University School of Economics, 3,323 first-choice applicants participated in the joint application process for economics and business administration studies. The total number of applicants through the bachelor’s level admissions routes to the School of Economics' Töölö campus was 3,639.The number of applicants compared to last year remained nearly unchanged.
Aalto University admits 1,735 new students – 17% of applicants gain admission
08.07.2011 A total of 1,735 students were admitted to Aalto University in its spring application round. Of the newly-admitted students, 436 will start at the School of Engineering, 405 at the School of Economics, 196 at the School of Chemical Technology, 270 at the School of Science, 299 at the School of Electrical Engineering and 129 at the School of Art and Design.
Greenhouses of the future will be lit with LEDs
18.07.2011 According to Professor Liisa Halonen from the School of Electrical Engineering, in coming years the sodium vapour lamps currently used in greenhouses may be replaced by LED lamps. LED lamps would reduce energy consumption at greenhouses and aid plants to grow abundantly.
