Metso Group gives EUR 1.9 million donation to Aalto University

01.07.2010 On the basis of the decision made by the Annual General Meeting, Metso has decided to grant a donation of EUR 1.9 million to Aalto University Foundation. This donation supports Aalto University´s financial capabilities to offer internationally competitive research and teaching services and helps Aalto University to meet its ambitious goals.

Aalto University innovation camp yields creative ideas

06.07.2010 The results of ACSI 2010 (Aalto Camp for Societal Innovation) innovation event were presented to the public on Monday 5 July at the White Hall in Helsinki. The ACSI 2010 pilot camp worked on projects for six customers.

Aalto University accepted 1796 new students

09.07.2010 In the application period to universities in the spring 2010, 1796 students were accepted to Aalto University. Of the new students 436 will begin their studies in the Aalto University School of Economics, 213 in the School of Art and Design, and 1237 in the School of Science and Technology.

13.07.2010 The article “Should Good Stocks Have High Prices or High Returns?” by Markku Kaustia, Heidi Laukkanen, and Vesa Puttonen, published in the Financial Analyst Journal, was selected by Emerald Management Reviews as one of the best 50 articles published on business and economics in 2009. More than 15,000 articles from 400 top business and management journals were reviewed.

A study reviews the reasons for the failure of the American merger of Stora Enso

14.07.2010 A recent publication by Aalto University School of Science and Technology reviews the assumptions made by the management of Stora Enso – the largest paper producer in Europe – that led to the acquisition of the North American Consolidated Papers in the year 2000. With the merger Stora Enso attempted to grow into a truly global company in the forest industry.

Multitouch display for public playing at the Pori Jazz festival

23.07.2010 This summer Pori Jazz uses the latest technology to present its programme, artists and venues to the audience. The Jatsitatsi multitouch wall, created as a part of a research project, uses advanced technology in a novel way to provide the audience with new experiences in public spaces.
