Master of Natural Sciences Jussi Kajala will defend the dissertation “Expansion Dynamics in Fermionic Quantum Gases” on December 9th, 2011. The thesis explores the dynamics of cold gases. The main results of the work explain the expansion dynamics of a Fermi gas in one dimension, deciphering the experimental results obtained in LMU Münich and MIT. Importantly, an easy way for detecting the long-sought-after FFLO state is proposed in the thesis.
