The title of thesis is “Functions and Abstractions for Radio Access Network Softwarization”
To offer new services, quickly and at low cost, Radio Access Networks (RANs) need to have a programmable architecture, allowing to manufacture new services by software. The possibility to program the network, to offer new and tailored services, will encourage a myriad of technical and business innovations.
The research presented in this thesis contributes to softwarization for heterogeneous RANs. Joint development of functions and abstractions is addressed. Development, implementation and performance of functions for Inter-Cell Interference Coordination, Frequency-Division Duplexing Flexible Duplexing, Adaptive Modulation and Coding, and Link to System mapping, is discussed.
