An Aalto University School of Economics study ranked among the 50 best articles of 2009

13.07.2010

The article “Should Good Stocks Have High Prices or High Returns?” by Markku Kaustia, Heidi Laukkanen, and Vesa Puttonen, published in the Financial Analyst Journal, was selected by Emerald Management Reviews as one of the best 50 articles published on business and economics in 2009. More than 15,000 articles from 400 top business and management journals were reviewed.

The best 50 articles received the Citation of Excellence award for their excellent quality. The Emerald Management Reviews database includes top business and management journals such as  Quarterly Journal of Economics, Harvard Business Review, Journal of Finance, Journal of Marketing, Strategic Management Journal, and Administrative Science Quarterly.

The award has been granted since 2004, and the School of Economics received it now for the first time. Markku Kaustia and Vesa Puttonen are Professors of Finance at the Aalto University School of Economics, and Heidi Laukkanen (M.Sc. in Econ.) works at the Fosters Group.

The awarded study reveals that one should exercise caution with advice given by financial advisers. Advice may be inconsistent and vary depending on how financial advice was requested. The article surveyed the perception of over 700 Finnish financial advisers on the expected returns of shares and the ratio of returns to the debt burden, growth expectations and exchange of shares.
