Supporters Share Faith in Aalto University’s Possibilities

By the beginning of September, hundreds of private individuals and nearly 60 businesses and organisations had donated to Aalto University’s basic capital. A total of EUR 163 million had been received in actual and promised donations. There are many reasons for making a donation, but all benefactors share a belief in the ability of Aalto University to continue building a better society and improving Finland’s competitiveness.

“We are very grateful for all the trust and support we receive. Every euro counts,” says President Tuula Teeri.
“So far, our campaign has been a success. However, we still face a final big push this autumn in order to raise the remaining EUR 37 million. I am convinced that we will reach the targeted EUR 200 million,” says Aalto University’s Fundraising Manager, Jyri Tawast. “This is the right time to invest in competence and the future,” Tawast says.
Aalto University aims to join the world’s top-ranking universities by focusing on its own strengths. It already has the requisite characteristics for a top international multidisciplinary university, but donations play a central role in ensuring that the new university can reach its objectives. This is a unique opportunity to make a mark on the development of a new Finnish university.
“It is important to support all the universities in Finland. A donation to a university is an investment into education, research and the common good,” Teeri says. By supporting Aalto University, people can invest into the areas in which Finland has a genuine opportunity to reach the global vanguard.
