Proposals selected to the second stage

The jury has evaluated all 58 entries submitted for the first stage. The jury found that the following entries stood out visually and artistically, represented the required way of thinking and expressed the objectives of Aalto listed in the contest programme. The jury selected the following ten entries to go on to the second round: (in brackets are the jury’s thoughts about the work in question)

AAA (Elegant, good presentation, transparency was positive, expressive, the placement of names on the ground would have to be considered)

Ajatustila (Allows space for reflection, provides somewhere to sit, the water is a fine element, it should be considered if this is too much of a labyrinth – would less be more, or should it be more open)

Alpha (Great that the work can also be used for sitting, the design language is slightly reminiscent of a logo, where all the names can be fitted should be considered)

A4 (Resembles an origami in a good way, elegant, location of the names must be decided in the future)

Arborring  (The work makes the world a better place in concrete terms)

Kolme kuutiota (Has pure lines, in the future the placing of names must be resolved to allow it to work in all seasons, cf. snow in the winter)

Matriisi (The entry works well in motivating people to donate, technological challenges must be considered – how will it endure time)

Noste (An elegant work as a whole – what must be considered is how to ensure safety without losing out on aesthetic aspects)

Sattuma (Nice resemblance to stained glass, must be considered if this could even be moved around to different locations, could interactive aspects somehow be included, what are the dimensions of the work)

Soundscape (Interactive aspects very positive, materials should be thought about, e.g. different types of metals, attention must be paid to staying within the given budget)
