Strategic Support for Research and Education

The primary tasks of Strategic Support for Research and Education (TOST) are:

• To provide support to rectors and other management at Aalto University in drafting outlines for strategic policies related to research and teaching and in realising these strategies.
• To support and guide teachers at the university in developing their teaching, and to encourage them to use varied teaching methods.
• To support and encourage the use of information and communication technology (ICT) as a tool for teaching and learning.
• To carry out evaluations in research and teaching, the last of which was the Evaluation of teaching and education (TEE) carried out at Aalto University in the spring of 2011.

The TOST operates on all Aalto campuses close to both teachers and students. TOST offers its education-field- specific expertise and skills to each School, and also sees to it that its expertise serves each School as broadly as possible.
