Academic Affairs Committee

The Aalto University Academic Affairs Committee is a joint, university-level administrative body consisting of several members. It serves to promote a high quality of research, teaching, and artistic activity.

The Academic Affairs Committee decides on the university’s curriculum, degree requirements, and criteria for student selection, other general rules involving teaching, research, and artistic activity, and it appoints the required bodies to conduct research and teaching.

Furthermore, the committee appoints the members of the university board. The Chair of the Committee is the president or another person designated by the president.

The Academic Affairs Committee may, by its sole decision, transfer the tasks listed above to the Academic Affairs Committees of the Schools, excluding the responsibility for appointing the university board.
