Assistant Professor in Organization and Management

The position is located in the Department of Management Studies, in the subject of Organization and Management. The Department hosts five disciplinary areas: Organization and Management, International Business, Entrepreneurship, Philosophy of Management and Organizational Communication. The department comprises several very competitive groups of strategy, human resource management, organizational behavior, sustainability management and organization theory researchers who publish in leading management journals such as AMA, AMJ, AMR, ASQ, JMS, Organization Science, Organization Studies, and SMJ, among others. Moreover, the department has a lively, international research community with numerous doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers from several countries.

There are also ample opportunities for conducting cross-disciplinary research across Aalto University and in close collaboration with the Finnish industry as well as in international research projects. Throughout their careers, those in the academic tenure track system are expected to carry out and supervise scientific research, to provide high quality academic education, to follow the advances of their field, to participate in service to the Aalto University community, and to take part in societal discussions and international collaboration in their field.

The applicants should hold a doctorate in a discipline relevant for this position. The doctorate can be from diverse fields provided that the candidate’s research focus is organization and management. The applicants will be reviewed on the basis of their research, teaching and activity in the scientific community. In the absence of formal proof of quality in research and teaching (e.g. published papers, teaching ratings), applicants are encouraged to submit proof of significant potential for high-quality teaching and research.

Given our unit’s broad focus, we will consider applicants with expertise in organizational behavior, strategy, innovation, sustainability, human resource management, or other domains of organization and management.

We expect the applicant to be able to start between January 2019 and September 2019.


Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities, but applicants may also provide salary requests. The position includes occupational healthcare.
