Assistant (Aalto Digi Platform)
Aalto University School of Science, Department of Computer Science is currently looking for an
for close to three-year fix term contract until 31 Dec 2020, with a possibility of extension. The position is an administrative assistant position in the context of Aalto Digi Platform, as well as the computer graphics, computer vision, and artificial intelligence research group of Prof. Jaakko Lehtinen, who is chairing Digi Platform until 31 Dec 2020. The Aalto Digi Platform brings together and finds synergies in Aalto's competences in ICT and digitalization in a bottom up manner, serves as a connector between the university and society and industry, and increases Aalto's visibility. The Platforms bring together the expertise in different Schools and Departments at Aalto University to solve systemic grand challenges. Prof. Lehtinen’s research group works at the forefront of computer graphics, vision, and machine intelligence, with applications in, e.g. computer games, the film industry, VR/AR, and robotics.
The diverse tasks of the Assistant will include:
1. Organization assistance for various events
2. Designing and managing external and internal communications of the group and Digi Platform (incl. website and wiki, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter)
3. Administrating practical issues of the research group
4. Research and project support
- Purchases, cost claims for the projects, calendar management and bookings, project achievement summaries
- Help with media releases and editing news and blog of the group
- Support in editing funding proposals and research papers
In addition, the job will include various administrative tasks and more demanding assignments depending on the skills and experience of the candidate. The position is to liaise between the research group and the other administrative staff of the department and the university.
We appreciate prior experience in arranging events (with 50 or more participants), for our staff and visitors; experience in managing a blog and fluency with various web-related tools and wiki; experience in work organisational and administrative tasks; and prior experience in research and project support and communications. Experience with text editors and related tools is considered as an advantage as well graphic design skills are a plus.
The job requires fluency in Finnish and English, excellence in written English is a strong plus. To manage in this position organizational and co-operative skills, effectiveness, diligence and initiative attitude are necessary. Applicable polytechnic or Master’s level degree is expected. Also students with suitable experience may be considered.
