Doctoral Candidate Position in Trust Management

The Department of Communications and Networking invites applications for Doctoral Candidate Position in the area of Trust Management

The candidate will join a research project about social network security, trust and privacy aiming to work out a series of algorithms, protocols and schemes to overcome the security and privacy issues of pervasive social networking. The candidate is responsible for fulfilling project tasks about social network security innovation and research.

Target degree: Doctor of Science (Technology)

Study time: Four years

Supervisor: Academy Research Fellow Zheng Yan (https://people.aalto.fi/index.html#zheng_yan)

Starting date: March 1st, 2018 or any other mutually agreeable date

Research area: Information and Network Security, Trust Management, Privacy Preservation

Optional topics:  trust, security and privacy in pervasive social networking and IoT, D2D communication security, etc.

Skills and qualities required to apply:

  • excellent programming skills, preferable in multiple languages
  • good written and oral communication skills in English
  • good organization skills
  • rigorous and critical thinking
  • ability to work independently
  • research experience in the field of information security and trust management is considered as a plus
  • previous scientific publications are considered a plus

The candidate must have a master’s degree (or equivalence) in information security, computer science, telecommunication engineering or in a related study with excellent results.  The candidate must have a high motivation for research, and enjoy working in an international and cross-disciplinary team.
